I have a friend, a very favorite friend, who got married this weekend. It was beautiful and “so them”. I was able & honored to shoot it for them and see their behind-the-scenes love, which is so sweet and thorough.
Their whole entire day just reiterated in my mind the fact that a wedding is so much more than the reception details. Yes, they are pretty and fun (and theirs, in fact, were super awesome), but when you’re a friend, sitting in the audience watching two friends get married, you just aren’t thinking about the type of flowers sitting on the tables inside. You are so focused on the commitment they are making to each other in that moment, that all the “extras” aren’t even on your radar. Maybe it’s because I have been looking at the pictures for the last 2 days, but the parts of their wedding I will remember the most are all the emotions on each of their faces throughout the ceremony: tears, laughs, smiles, gazes, whispers… the real details.
